Why Nothing is Working – How to Make Things Align

Feel like your life is a stunted mess? Have a million goals and ambitions you want to accomplish but don’t have a clue where to start? Good news! Serendipity has brought you to the right place, and things are a lot, LOT simpler to solve than you think. This is why nothing is working out for you right now and how to troubleshoot it.

You place too much importance on the goal

You are making things harder than they need to be by putting too much importance on the goal. That is the only reason why anything would be difficult. The truth many people don’t realize is that they always have the option to either live life in the most stupidly simple way possible or the most stupidly hard way possible. Personally, I like to make everything stupid simple because only a stupid person would want things to be hard for no reason. Here are some examples to show what I mean by this:

GoalStupidly Simple Way PossibleStupidly Hard Way Possible
Cooking a MealUse a pre-packaged, microwaveable meal.Grow your own ingredients, mill your own flour, and cook everything from scratch over an open fire.
Learning a LanguageUse language learning apps and practice regularly.Invent your own language, create a complex grammar system, and learn it without any external resources.
Writing a BookUse word processing software and self-publish online.Handwrite the entire manuscript on parchment, create your own printing press, and bind each copy by hand.
Becoming an AthleteStart with basic workouts and gradually increase intensity.Train relentlessly for multiple hours daily, follow a strict diet, and compete in extreme, high-risk sports.
Starting a CompanyLaunch an online business with a simple product or service.Establish a multinational corporation from scratch, including manufacturing, distribution, and global operations.
Table: Stupidly Simple VS Stupidly Hard ways to Achieve Life Goals

To give you some perspective, any goal you want to achieve, whether that is to complete some laundry for the day or write a bestselling book, will only be as easy or difficult to achieve depending on your perception of it. Imagine you are asked to speak at a national conference with thousands of attendees versus being asked to give a toast at a small family dinner; realize that both situations require the same task for completion – organizing and delivering a speech to an audience – however, you are likely attributing a significantly higher level of importance to the former and therefore making it more difficult for no reason.

IF IN DOUBT – REMEMBER SIMPLE IS BEST

Reduce importance to make things align

It sounds somewhat nihilistic, but the reality is that nothing in life is inherently important. Money, status, a nice house, and a respectable career, for example, are all equally achievable commodities for any human being. The reason these things are hard to accomplish for the majority of people is because majority of people hold the belief that they are supposed to be hard to obtain. Someone who was born into a wealthy family will see the possession of money as commonplace and therefore see no barriers in receiving more of it. In contrast, someone who grew up in poverty might hold the belief that money is hard to come by. Wealth itself does not discriminate because anyone can become its owner; however, it is a diligent subordinate who will comply with one’s belief – if you are someone who expects money to come to you easily then wealth will comply and deliver abundance; likewise, if you think to yourself ‘it is impossible for someone like me to become rich,’ then being the faithful servant it is, wealth will oblige and show you its absence.

In thinking something is hard you evoke feelings such as discomfort, anxiety, and resistance to the task at hand, in turn making things seem more and more difficult than they really are. To stop feeding this mental cycle, stop procrastinating, and make progress, you MUST reduce importance. It makes complete logical sense – someone who thinks the thing they want to achieve is hard will doubt themselves and suffer feelings of anxiety; this causes them to continue putting off the work they need to do and feel like they are wasting time, in turn feeding the cycle of negative emotions and delaying progress.

To reduce importance and thereby take your goal off the pedestal, consider the following truths:

  • You dont actually have to do anything at all
  • Anything you want to do in life is optional
  • If you decide to do something, it is for your own benefit
  • You do not owe anyone anything
  • Completing one tiny thing towards your goal will make 100% progress compared to inaction

DO NOTHING until you have INTENTION

Additionally, you should always focus on just one goal at a time. Your heart might desire a million things at once – such as to travel, buy a nice home, find a life partner, purchase a car, etc. In order to achieve your heart’s desires, you will need to take one step at a time; this could be to meet more people, make more money by finding a job, or lose weight by changing your diet. Consider the one single task you need to do for the moment, e.g., download a dating app; think about what job you would like to work; eat more protein today. It is counterintuitive to stress and worry about too many tasks at once; therefore, real tangible progress begins with a small step in the right direction.

It could be argued that when you are overwhelmed and questioning what you should do among the endless tasks you have conjured in your mind, the best course of action is to DO NOTHING. Doing nothing is the only way to calm the mind and figure the one sole task you need to achieve in this current moment. Notice people who are constantly active and hustling, maybe even working multiple jobs at once and entertaining anyone who wants to socialize with them. Modern-day society has glorified the idea of keeping busy; however, it is often the busiest of people who are achieving nothing in particular. The true value in whatever you do lies in INTENTION, and you must keep yours in mind at all times, no matter what life event comes your way. Many who appear ‘productive’ by stretching themselves thin are living a distraction and whether they know it or not, are neglecting completion towards their true goal or purpose. It is better to DO NOTHING, identify your INTENTION which is the one thing that will help you take a step towards your goal and focus on it.

Summary

  • ALWAYS choose the most stupidly simple way possible
  • Reduce importance by taking your goal off the pedestal
  • It is better to DO NOTHING than to do many things that do not pertain to your goal
  • DO NOTHING until you clear your mind and realise your INTENTION
  • Remember your INTENTION at all times
  • There is only ONE THING you need to do at any current moment in realising your goal
